Planning to Be in Syracuse on Business? Spoil Yourself With a Trip to Skaneateles

Planning to Be in Syracuse on Business? Spoil Yourself With a Trip to Skaneateles.Visitors to the city of Syracuse, NY sometimes get a little restless when sitting in timg_08heir hotel rooms. Plenty of people that live in and around the city are more than a little familiar with the neighboring Finger Lakes region. One man that traveled various lakes and oceans in Europe and other places during his stint in the navy considers the Finger Lakes one of the most beautiful places in the world. That’s saying something for this area that is tucked far up North from the Big Apple.

If you’re a lover of natural beauty and fine wine, you owe it to yourself to take a break from business activities and go on a day tour adventure. When you work hard you deserve a little time to spoil yourself. The town of Skaneateles (pronounced “skinny-atlas”) beckons for you to stop over for a visit.

When you arrive you’ll find this to be a quaint town that sits on the edge of Skaneateles Lake, which is one of the famous Finger Lakes. You may be wondering how the town came by its unique name. Well, like many places in this area it is an Iroquois name that means Long Lake. While this lake isn’t the longest of the bunch, it sure is long enough for visitors to enjoy a pleasant boat ride. One of the favorite activities here is the scenic boat tours that carry people down the lake for a delightfully fun trip.

Here in Skaneateles you’ll be able to kick back and relax while taking in the local atmosphere. If you want to spend the night, it is easy to find a luxurious rental property. The summer months are the busiest season, but there are openings year-round. That’s what is so great about this town. In the summer you can enjoy hanging out by the lake and taking a stroll around the Clift Park waterfront. Cozy accommodations are available right by the lake.

Warm weather also brings people out to enjoy special events like the Race Weekend (triathletes), Labor Day Field Days (fireworks and parades) and other popular events. If you’re a history buff, you can see area homes that participated in the Underground Railroad.

During the winter months the town takes on the air of a picture postcard winter scene. If you’re visiting during the holidays, be sure to see the annual Dickens Christmas event put on by local businesses. This is a live performance that will thrust you back in time with music, food and carriage rides.

Enjoy wine? Stop by Anyela’s Vineyards to sample some of their award winning wines. Or, you can enjoy the local wines served at many of the fine eating establishments here. Maybe you’re in the mood for some serious pampering. In that case, a visit here will rejuvenate your mind and body.

As you can see, Skaneateles is the perfect getaway for one or more days when you’re in need of some TLC to relax and unwind.
